On May May 17, 2018 Attorney Linda Ursin presented to the TCBA on division of retirement benefits in divorce.

On May 2, 2018 the TCBA celebrated Law Day.  This year's theme was Separation of Powers:  Framework for Freedom.  Our Keynote Speaker was The Honorable William H. Bright, Jr.

Posted:  AUGUST 26, 2016.   The Family Short Calendar procedure at the Tolland Judicial District, 69 Brooklyn Street, Rockville, has changed effective October 3, 2016 All matters that appear on this calendar are deemed ready.  Ready markings are no longer required. A marking is only necessary if the party who filed the motion wishes the matter to be marked off.  If the party who filed the motion does not appear, the court may deem oral argument waived and the motion may be denied by the court.  If the party who did not file the motion does not appear, the court may deem oral argument waived and may grant the relief requested in the motion.  The Family Short Calendar in the Tolland Judicial District, will be called at 9:30 a.m.


Posted: AUGUST 9, 2016.  SAVE THE DATE: the next meeting of the TCBA is planned for Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  This will be the first meeting of the TCBA for the 2016-2017 term.  

 

Posted:  AUGUST 19, 2015.  The TCBA has been informed of a new procedure in Rockville (GA19) Court, for modifying a criminal protective order.  No hearings to modify a protective order will be held, with less than one week notice, unless the victim is present and in support of the modification.

Posted:  AUGUST 19, 2015:  A Brown-Bag Lunch will be held on September 2, 2015, at 1:00 pm, at 69 Brooklyn St., Room B, Rockville.  The Honorable William Bright, Honorable Susan Cobb, and CaseFlow Coordinator Christie Krol, will be present to discuss the Court's expectations relating to calendaring of civil matters involving the assignment of cases, to a single judge.

Posted:  APRIL 10, 2015:  Roy Smith, Judicial District Chief Clerk for Tolland County, has coordinated installation of a new computer in the Attorneys' Lounge at 69 Brooklyn Street.  This will be equipped with a scanner, for e-filing.


Posted:  March 21, 2015:  At our monthly meeting held on March 19, 2015, Attorney Joseph Caposella spoke to the Tolland County Bar Association members about the benefits of mediating disputes as an alternative to litigation.  In addition a vote was held to approve the following officers, for the 2015-2016 term:

It was further resolved, that Attorney Meghan Smith, and Attorney Allenston Sheridan, are appointed Law Day Co-Chairs.

Posted:  Nov. 6, 2014:  The next monthly meeting of the TCBA will be Thursday, Nov. 20th at 1:00 P.M. at Angellino's Restaurant, 346 Kelly St., Vernon, CT.  We expect several of Tolland County's judges will present on topics such as civil, habeas and general matters.   We will also be voting to adopt the proposed TCBA bylaws, at this meeting.

Bacon informed members about a new proposed Connecticut Residential Purchase and Sale Agreement, which is being considered by the Real Property Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.  Click here to download the draft proposal.
